The Commission during its camp sitting at Guwahati, Assam on 28.5.2012
had recommended to the Government of Assam to pay a sum of Rs.one lakh
each to the dependents of the tea garden workers and Rs.two lakhs each
to the next of kin of the two workers of Bhuvan Valley Tea Estate in
Cachar District of Assam who died due to starvation and lack of medical
facilities.
In response, Joint Secretary, Home & Political Departments, Govt.
of Assam, Dispur vide communication dated 19.9.2013 has informed that as
recommended by the Commission, the Government has paid Rs.one lakh each
to the dependents of eleven tea garden workers and Rs.Two lakhs each to
the next of kin of the two deceased tea garden workers of Bhuvan
Valley Tea Estate in Cachar District of Assam. The proof of payment has
also been received.
Since the recommendation of the Commission has been complied with, the
case is closed. A copy of these proceedings shall be sent the I.O. of
the Commission and also to the recipients of the monetary relief.
