"Dalit Beaten Up for Touching Caste Hindu " for (news clipping cutting annexed). By Express News Service - THANJAVU Published: 13th February 2014 08:25 AM.
"A member from a Dalit community was attacked by a Caste Hindu for touching one of the friends of the accused, after attending a funeral.
According to sources, R Shivaji (52) of Madhavan kudikadu of Thirumangalakkottai melaiyur, a Dalit farmer, was standing at a tea stall in his village on Monday when he met his relative Thangarasu who came on a motorcycle driven by his friend V Saravanan (37) of Poovathoor. While they were interacting, Shivaji, who earlier attended a funeral, touched Saravanan, it is said.
Saravanan, a member of the dominant community got irritated and questioned about this ‘sinister motive’, saying he had to take Thangarasu in the motorbike along with him and he had to bathe all over once again, due to ritual pollution of being touched by one who attended a funeral.
A ruckus soon ensued and it is said that Saravanan attacked Shivaji with a wooden log. An injured Shivaji has been admitted to Thanjavur Medical college hospital.
Pappanadu police have registered a case under various sections of IPC and arrested Saravanan on Wednesday."
Therefore it is kind request please take appropriate action at earliest.
