According to the media report a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and hanged inside a police station premise in Nighasan area, Lakhmipur, Uttar Pradesh. As a consequenceall the 11 policemen posted there were suspended.
According to the report, the girl was missing since Friday evening and her body was found hanging from a tree near an under-construction administrative block inside Nighasan police station last night.
"The girl had taken her cattle for grazing in the rear side of the building. When she did not return till late hours her mother went to the spot and found the girl's body hanging from the tree," Superintendent of Police D K Rai said to the media.
Sir, on behalf of PVCHR, I requests NHRC to look into the matter and take necessary action against the perpetrators. The family of the girl must be given counselling to cope with their loss and should be compensated adequately.
