Shops near Beur jail raided, 3 held

PATNA: A Patna police team on Tuesday carried out raids at a sweet shop and men's parlour close to high security Beur Central Jail and seized cell phones, chargers, laptop and playing cards from there.

SSP Alok Kumar said that acting on an information that some shops located close to the jail were illegally keeping cell phones and were engaged in supplying it and other commodities to the inmates inside the jail, raids were carried out. He said that these cell phones and other commodities are concealed inside the jail and the shop owners were paid on day-to-day basis.

The SSP said that a police team was constituted under SDPO, Phulwarisharif, Rakesh Kumar Dubey which carried out raids at the two shops near the jail and recovered 36 cell phones, three chargers, one laptop and 10 sets of playing cards from there. He said that three persons identified as Rajesh Kumar, owner of sweet shop, Shalu Kumar alias Jitendra Kumar, owner of a men's parlour, and Abhimanyu Kumar alias Vishnu, a resident of Machali Gali, Raja Bazaar, under Shastrinagar police station were arrested. The arrested persons were being interrogated, the SSP added.
